Our annual Rose Show at the Japanese Garden Pavilion (611 SW Kingston) will be June 12, 10 am – 7 pm and Sunday June 13, 10 am – 5 pm.

Workshops with Mr. Tetsunori Kawana Sogetsu Master Instructor

The workshops will be held on June 12 and 13, in the Multnomah Arts Center gymnasium.

In Workshop 1 we will stretch the boundaries of ikebana with unconventional and fresh materials (lesson 4-11).

Workshop 2 will feature creations with a variety of materials, as recently emphasized by the Iemoto (lesson 4-5, Maze-zashi).

Mr. Kawana has traveled the world to create Sogetsu Ikebana for stage productions, art exhibits, workshops and demonstrations. His most recent work includes installations at the New York Botanical Garden, the National Gallery in Moscow, and the National Gallery of Victoria in Melbourne, Australia. Mr. Kawana began his ikebana studies with Hiroshi Teshigahara, and was strongly influenced by Mr. Teshigahara’s work. He lives in Tokyo and New York City, and speaks excellent English.
